Skin whitening or lightening  is a condition used for the strategy of noticeable light appearance and complexion. Our skin consists of two layers. Epidermis is the outer protective layer without blood vessels while Dermis is the inner layer containing blood vessels, sensory nerve endings, sweat and oil glands, hair and fat cells. 

Flawless  and impeccable looking is the desire of almost every human existence. Particularly women wish for healthy and beautiful skin. But many of them face several skin problems like age spots, acne, dark circles, dull complexion and wrinkles e.t.c. These problems are often caused by the UV (ultraviolet) radiations, high level of melanin pigmentation and other such biochemical reactions. The colour of skin is determined by the amount (concentration) of melanin which is a skin pigment produced by melanocytes. Body cells need the internal environment in which conditions do not change much. Stable internal conditions are important for the efficient functioning of enzymes. Any change in body temperature may affect the functioning of enzymes activity. Therefore, the colour of skin varies with the level of melanin pigment. However, there are various treatments for the skin problems. 

Skin problems can be treated by several artificial as well as natural ways. A few home remedies for skin whitening are:-


Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice contains naturally occurring organic compounds such as astringent which helps in tightening  the pores of skin and reducing the secretion of sebum.

Ingredients:


  • Lemon
  • Cotton

 Method:


  1. Utilize a cotton ball to apply lemon juice to the skin
  2. Leave for 15-20 minutes and rinse thoroughly
  3. Repeat daily for best results.


Milk:

Milk contains calcium as a main ingredient which helps in regulating the skin’s normal colour. It develops an effective layer to fight against dryness of skin. It stimulates melonocytes. The lactic acid present in milk reduces skin pigmentation.

Ingredients:


  • Milk 
  • Wash cloth

Method:

Heat milk up to a moderate level
Utilize a washcloth to apply warm milk to the skin and message for 4-5 minutes.

Repeat daily for the purpose of getting a clean and flawless skin.

Strawberries:

Strawberries are the ultimate source of nutrients that are essential for a healthy skin. Strawberries are loaded with vitamin-C and powerful antioxidants which provide nourishment for a healthy and flawless skin. Research by the expert of food sciences demonstrated that those people who eat foods rich in vitamin-C have less skin problems. Strawberries also contain dietary fiber which eliminates the toxins that are harmful for our bodies. Strawberries are used for anti-aging, ultra-violet(UV) protection, acne, oily skin and skin lightening.

Ingredients:


  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Honey
  • Lemon
  • Bowl

Method:


  1. Mash the strawberries in a bowl
  2. Squeeze the lemon
  3. Add 1 table-spoon of honey
  4. Stir the mixture until you get a smooth paste
  5. Apply on skin and leave it for 5-10 minutes
  6. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
  7. Repeat 3 to 4 times per-week for a healthy and glowing skin.


Yogurt (Curd):

Yogurt is well known for its magnificent advantages. It provides skin moisturization, fights against acne, treats skin infections, recovers the adverse effects of UV-rays, and controls the concentration of pigmentations. Yogurt contains lactic acid which removes dead skin cells and reveals your natural skin colour.

Ingredients:


  • 2 tablespoons of yogurt
  • Lemon juice 


Method:


  • Mix the yogurt and lemon juice in a bowl.
  • Apply the mixture on the face and neck
  • Leave it for 10-15 minutes and rinse thoroughly with cold water.
